Bengaluru FC win their first away game of the season at Mohammedan Sporting!

Bengaluru FC arrived for their first away game of the season against Mohammeddan Sporting Club looking to get back to winning ways. Head Coach Renedy Singh made 3 changes to his playing XI as Sunil Chhetri and Siroj Kuziev made their first starts of the season, along with Rahul Bheke’s return to the XI after an injury-related absence over the past 2 games.

In the early exchanges, BFC remained firmly on top through a procession of corners and crosses. Eventually, they found a way to score the first goal as Siroj Kuziev delivered a fine corner, for Chhetri to flick it on off his head, and No. 7 Ryan Williams reacting first to score his first goal of the season from close-range in the 22nd minute of the game.

BFC did not let their foot off the gas, and almost 20 minutes later Ashique Kuruniyan doubled the Blues’ lead with a stunning long-range effort to blast one past MSC’s Chhetri in goal. Through dominance in possession, and creating better chances, Bengaluru FC headed into the break with a 2-0 lead at KBK.

The second half began with a rejuvenated MSC pulling one back for themselves as Mahitosh connected well with a volley to find the bottom corner past Gurpreet Singh Sandhu in the 51st minute. MSC came close once again in the 66th minute as a curling effort from Lalthankima crashed against the crossbar.

Lalthankima came close once again in the 84th minute as he let one fly from outside the box, but Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was equal and saved it with a diving effort, pushing it away from danger.

With the game hanging by a thread, MSC kept attacking the Bengaluru goal, and looked to have equalized in the final seconds of the game after a scrappy battle from a long throw-in, but a foul on Gurpreet Singh Sandhu before the tap-in ensured the goal did not stand, and Bengaluru FC secured a 2-1 win away from home.
