European Football Clubs Convene in Frankfurt for a Week of Innovation, Collaboration & “Firsts”!

More than 160 delegates from professional football clubs across Europe gathered in Frankfurt this week as European Football Clubs (EFC) – formerly the European Club Association (ECA) – brought together its Working Groups for a series of high-level meetings, strategy sessions, and innovation exchanges.

This marked one of the most comprehensive gatherings of club executives for such meetings in recent years – and was the first time EFC collaborated so closely with one of its members to enrich its Working Group experience for all attending club delegates.

Eintracht Frankfurt welcomed representatives from clubs across Europe, providing not only the setting but also additional value through a Partner Innovation Session hosted in collaboration with EintrachtTech and OneFootball. Taking place at the EintrachtLab, home to Eintracht’s e-sports division, the session showcased how clubs can leverage technology, data and digital fan engagement to strengthen their sporting and commercial future.

In total, European clubs from 40 nations were guests in Frankfurt. Eintracht was therefore able to use the international break off the pitch to further promote collaboration between European clubs and to unite the heart of football (EFC) in the heart of Europe (Eintracht’s postal address and club anthem opening).

Charlie Marshall, CEO of European Football Clubs (EFC), said, “This week in Frankfurt embodies what EFC stands for: collaboration, innovation and value creation for our more than 800 members of all shapes and sizes. By convening our working groups together and partnering with Eintracht Frankfurt, we are not only enhancing dialogue among clubs from all corners of the continent, but also driving practical solutions to support the ongoing development of European club football.”

Axel Hellmann, CEO of Eintracht Frankfurt, added, “Hosting the EFC Working Groups in Frankfurt is an honour and a strategic opportunity. It reflects how Eintracht Frankfurt has evolved into a platform for European football dialogue and innovation. Through EintrachtTech and our partnerships, we aim to contribute ideas that empower clubs and support EFC’s mission to deliver tangible value and benefits to its growing membership.”

The event underlined the growing strategic importance of institutional affairs within Eintracht Frankfurt – demonstrating how close collaboration with European and global football bodies can open new opportunities, strengthen the club’s international profile and create shared value for the broader football ecosystem.

With more than 800 member clubs represented through EFC, this week’s gathering in Frankfurt marked another milestone for collective engagement and progress in European football governance. It positioned Frankfurt as a vibrant hub for football innovation, dialogue and unity – with Eintracht Frankfurt once again taking a leading role in connecting clubs, partners and institutions across Europe.
