FC Bengaluru United (FCBU) held on for a gritty 1–0 win against Agniputhra FC in a hard-fought KSFA Super Division clash. An early goal from Altab (21′) proved decisive as FCBU showed defensive resilience to withstand sustained pressure, especially in the second half.
The game began with a nervy moment for FCBU after a defensive error allowed an Agniputhra striker to intercept a pass and get a shot away, but goalkeeper Srijith made a sharp save to keep the scores level. FCBU responded well and broke the deadlock in the 21st minute: Dhruv’s volley thundered off the crossbar, and Altab was in the right place to nod in the rebound. FCBU enjoyed the bulk of possession but had to stay alert as Agniputhra pressed high and created several dangerous openings.
The second half saw Agniputhra push hard in search of an equaliser. FCBU struggled to create chances of their own, with no shots on target after the break, while their opponents continued to attack with intent. In the dying minutes, Agniputhra came close with a shot that flew just over the bar, but FCBU’s defence held firm under pressure.
It was a gritty and determined display from FCBU, who defended well after taking the lead and ground out an important three points to stay strong in their Super Division campaign.
