Germany to host UEFA Women’s EURO 2029!

UEFA has awarded the DFB the right to host UEFA Women’s EURO 2029. The decision was taken by the UEFA Executive Committee at its meeting in Nyon on Wednesday, 3 December 2025. This means that the UEFA Women’s EURO will be held in Germany for the first time since 2001. The DFB had submitted a bid entitled ‘WE’29 – Together We Rise’.

The decision was preceded by many months of meticulous planning. Together with numerous stakeholders, including the federal government, state and regional associations, host cities and clubs, a concept for UEFA Women’s EURO 2029 was developed in line with UEFA’s specifications and submitted in a bid book comprising more than 2,500 pages. The focus was on hosting a final tournament that would set new standards for the women’s game in Europe.

Germany’s hosting of the tournament continues the country’s good cooperation with UEFA following on from UEFA EURO 2024. Over the next three and a half years or so, the DFB will work closely with the European continental association and all UEFA National Associations to facilitate knowledge-sharing and create the best possible conditions for the biggest celebration of women’s football in history.

At the same time, the DFB would like to acknowledge and thank its competitors for a fair, clean and respectful competition for the right to host UEFA Women’s EURO 2029.

Neuendorf: “We are proud and delighted”

DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said: “We are proud and delighted to be hosting UEFA Women’s EURO 2029. We would like to thank UEFA for the trust they have placed in us. Hosting such an important tournament is an honour, but it also comes with a great deal of responsibility. Following the wonderful UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 in Switzerland, we want to set new standards. We are absolutely convinced that the tournament in Germany will attract more than a million fans and that UEFA will make a financial profit for the first time with a Women’s EURO. We are looking forward to celebrating a great festival of women’s football in the summer of 2029.”

Heike Ullrich, DFB Vice-President for Women’s and Girls’ Football, says: “It’s incredible. A dream come true. After 2001, we will once again be hosting the Women’s European Championship in Germany. From today until the summer of 2029, we will be working tirelessly to organise a Women’s EURO that UEFA and the entire European football family can be proud of. This is not just about management and organisational issues, but also all the positive effects the tournament will have on the development of women’s football in Europe. With its ‘Unstoppable’ strategy, UEFA has set clear goals for 2030, and we want to contribute to these. Above all, we want to promote the exchange of knowledge around this tournament. Women’s football needs international growth and therefore also international cooperation. We are ready – let’s do this together.”
