Gokulam Kerala FC women reach Jordan to take part in the AFC Women’s Club Championship!

The Malabarians are the first women’s team from India to participate in the continental championship and have sent a strong team with 10 Indian internationals and five foreigners.

The team from Kozhikode will play its first match on November 7 against Jordan champions Amman SC. On November 10, Gokulam face Iranian champions Shahrdari Sirjan followed by Uzbekistan champion team FC Bunyodkar.

Gokulam Kerala FC have recruited two strikers – Elshaddai Acheampong from Ghana, and Karen Stefanny Paez from Colombia. Myanmar Winger/Forward Win Theingi Tun will also represent Gokulam along with Puerto Rican midfielder Adriana Tirado and Ghana defender Susan Ama Duah. Gokulam Kerala have also included three Kerala players and five other state players in the squad.

“We have sent a strong squad for the championship. We want to bring the championship to the country and show that our women players are good enough to bring laurels to the country. We dream that our women team will bring the first AFC title to the country,” said Gokulam Kerala FC president VC Praveen.

“We have got only a week’s preparation with the entire team but the team has shaped up well. We had played a couple of training matches and had favorable results. All the players are confident about the first match against local side Amman SC,” said Priya PV, the head coach of Gokulam Kerala FC
