A second half Diego Forlan penalty goal was enough for Mumbai City FC to score a 1-0 win over NorthEast United FC in ISL-3 on their debut at the Mumbai Football Arena at the Andheri Sports Complex.
Both sides had their chances in the first session keeping the goalkeepers busy, but it remained goalless at the break.
Mumbai City FC were awarded a penalty in the 55th minute, when Reagan Singh brought down Pronay Halder after Reagan
could not control a terrible square pass. Mumbai City FC marquee Diego Forlan took the penalty against former Mumbai City FC goalkeeper Subrata Pal, who got a good touch onto the ball but due to an earlier side step, he could keep the ball out.
NorthEast United needed some time to regroup, but once they did, they put a lot of pressure on Mumbai City FC, but the equaliser would not happen with Mumbai City FC keeper Volpato in the thick of action as Nico Velez, Emiliano Alfaro, Katsumi Yusa, Holicharan Narzary or Robin Gurung all missed or wasted good scoring opportunities.
In the end Mumbai City FC win their second match in a row, while NorthEast United FC suffer their first defeat of ISL-3.
