IWL referees undergo technical and medical training in AIFF-RFYS workshop!

The AIFF, in collaboration with Reliance Foundation Youth Sports (RFYS), conducted a three-day workshop for referees from October 24 to 26, 2025, in Mumbai, as part of their preparation for the Indian Women’s League (IWL) 2025-26 season.

This workshop was led by instructors Maria Rebello and Uvena Fernandes and saw participation from 23 referees. Ms. Chaitali Paul, member, Referees Committee, served as the observer.

Hands-on sessions were conducted to enhance the participants’ on-field knowledge on positioning, mobility, and decision-making during key match incidents. One-on-one interactions were also held in the presence of Ms. Chaitali to work collectively towards elevating women’s refereeing across the nation.

Mr. Christopher Pedra, Head of Sports Medicine at Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital, conducted a session on ‘Acute and Chronic Injuries in Football’ alongside his team. Supporting expert talks were also held by Dr. Aishwarya on acute medical care, Ms. Muskaan Lucknowala on nutrition and hydration for performance and recovery, and Ms. Aashna Sudeshna on mental health in football.
