Jamshedpur FC and Hyderabad FC went head-to-head tonight for the third clash against each other at the Tilak Maidan. While Jamshedpur FC played their first away game of the season, Hyderabad FC played their first home game.
After draws in their previous fixtures, both the teams walked in with the intention of getting a win out of this match. While Hyderabad FC registered a good start to their season with a win and a draw, Jamshedpur FC were still on the lookout for their first victory of the season and entered the pitch aiming to break Hyderabad FC’s unbeaten streak and grab those three points that they have been desperately striving for.
Jamshedpur FC kicked-off their first away match in their white jersey. They received their first chance as they invaded the Hyderabad FC box after a throw-in, but the defence did a good job of clearing the ball away. As Jamshedpur FC unloaded a number of attacks, a loud appeal got called for a penalty as Jacki was taken down by two defenders inside the box. However, the referee denied it and asked to continue with the play. Both teams shared a couple of chances for a few minutes but failed to enter the penalty box thanks to the strong defence.
A few minutes later, a fast-paced attack erupted towards the Jamshedpur FC goal but the defence dispossessed the attackers. The Hyderabad FC men got their first attempt on goal as Liston took a free-kick directly at the goal. However, the ball flew off the crossbar. Both teams strived hard to get their opening goal of the match with multiple chances seen on both sides. As the minutes went by, Hyderabad FC started gaining an advantage in possession as they approached the Jamshedpur FC side.
Then in came a close chance for Hyderabad FC as the ball got lobbed from the right flank, brushed off the defender and Pawan dived forward to safeguard it in his hands. Jamshedpur FC pushed to come back harder with their attack as Dinliana cut through the defence line and passed the ball to Jacki who took a powerful attempt on goal. Unfortunately, it got saved by Laxmikant as he flicked the ball off the crossbar.
Hyderabad FC unleashed loads of quick attacks on Jamshedpur FC after they rehydrated at the drinks break session. Luckily, Jamshedpur FC’s strong wall of defence and Pawan were quick to clear the ball away from the box. As the teams trailed to take the lead, a very close call came for the Red Miners as what could have been a possible opener for Hyderabad FC. Narzary beat the defender beautifully with a body faint which tricked Dinliana to the opposite side. He took a powerful shot at the goal from a narrow angle but, unfortunately for Hyderabad FC, the ball bounced off the side post with Pawan stretching to his max but unable to get his hands on it. The match grew even more aggressive as Eze got booked by the official for a rash tackle on Aridane and after an aggressive first half, the score remained goalless.
The second half began with both sides going at each other to register their first goal for the team. Finally, after multiple attempts, the men in yellow bagged their opener as Narzary invaded the box from the left flank and took a strong attempt at goal which initially got saved with a good diving effort by Pawan but then, unfortunately, the ball deflected towards Aridane who was left completely unmarked by the defence. He tapped the ball in and took Hyderabad FC to lead.
Another threat began for Jamshedpur FC as Hyderabad FC started counter-attacking after a Jamshedpur FC corner. The man on the ball moved past a defender smoothly and proceeded towards the goal with two players with him on the attack on both sides and just one defender at the goal. The counter-attack finally got broken down by the lone defender in the box and Jamshedpur FC managed to evade the risk of what could have been the 2nd goal for the Nizams to extend their lead.
Jamshedpur FC aimed to come back, as the ball was crossed in by Dinliana and attempted by Valskis with a slide, but the ball hit the side netting. The team pushed to equalise as they started attacking, but found it difficult to score when Valskis crossed it to William who then missed out on a chance at the goal as the Hyderabad defenders filled the box in, thus giving him no space to attempt. Then, a very disheartening moment came for Jamshedpur FC as a free-kick, which was whipped into the box, deflected off a Hyderabad FC defender, and bounced over the goal line. The referee disallowed the goal as Hartley got flagged off and the players crowded around the referee protesting the decision taken.
After 80 minutes, Jamshedpur FC finally equalised with the ball lobbed in and controlled by Mobashir. He laid it off to Stephen who in turn put his unstoppable power behind the ball from the edge of the box. The ball flew into the top netting as the keeper struggled to get his hands on the ball and Jamshedpur FC finally scored. After levelling the score, Jamshedpur FC came back with all their energy and kept pushing for the 3 points with one final goal in the closing moments which included a near chance via a header by Peter. Unfortunately, even though he jumped to net it in, it flew over the crossbar.
The night grew even more intense in the closing minutes as things took an unexpected turn. A challenge took place via a Hyderabad attack inside the Jamshedpur FC box and Coach Manuel Marquez got shown a red card for misconduct. And with this, a very lively and extremely challenging contest came to an end as both teams walked away with one point each.
