Last season finalists Kerala Blasters scored their first win in the Indian Super League – Season 4 with a 1-0 win over NorthEast United at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Friday evening.

The guests from the NorthEast had the better start into the gae but chances for Marcinho and Danilo went either wide or keeper Paul Rachubka was in the way.

But then came the 24th minute, a cross from Rino Anto and in the middle C.K. Vineeth headed the ball into the net to the joy of the large crowds.

Things got worse for NorthEast United just before half-time as their goalkeeper T.P. Rehenesh, actually a local Kerala boy, was send off for a foul on Blasters striker Mark Sifneos outside of the box. Nothing more happened and the Blasters took their 1-0 lead into the break.

The Kerala Blasters had more of the ball after the break against the 10 men NorthEast United FC, but keeper Ravi Kumar denied the home team on a number of occasions and his side pushed the Blasters in the end but the result stayed the same as the Kerala Blasters had their first win of this campaign.
