Lebanese FA receive AFC Grassroots Charter Bronze membership renewal!

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has recognised the continued efforts of the Lebanese Football Association (LFA) in football development with the renewal of their AFC Grassroot Charter Bronze membership.

First granted membership in December 2018, the LFA is one of 41 members of the AFC Grassroots Charter, which is a development tool that assists Member Associations with increasing the quality of their grassroots programmes.

The LFA’s application for renewal was assessed by the AFC Grassroots Panel in March and subsequently deemed successful, with the Panel noting its admirable commitment towards developing the game in the country through various activities, programmes and events, despite facing many challenges.

“The Lebanese Football Association represents an inspiring model of hard work and dedication to develop sports at various levels,” said Panel member, Ms Ranaf Kroom. “Achieving success in the midst of challenges reflects their true commitment to the values of sports and their aspirations to build a better future for Lebanese sports and the Middle East in general.”

The existence of a clear plan that encompasses a comprehensive schedule of educational courses, festivals, tournaments and other development programmes was highlighted as a key factor for the renewal.

In a reflection of diversity and inclusivity, age-group tournaments for both genders are organised by the LFA throughout the year, ranging from Under-11 to Under-20 categories, with schedules and results issued to participants on a weekly basis.

Furthermore, the LFA pays special attention to amateur football and includes a large number of teams in each category, for both males and females. Beyond the 11-a-side game, the LFA has included futsal and beach soccer activities as part of its programmes, which contributes to enhancing diversity and attracting more participants.

The LFA continues to place a strong emphasis on ensuring a safe sports environment for all and has put in place rules of conduct, in addition to enforcing child protection policies and cooperating with the Ministry of Education.

The LFA Technical Director, Bassem Mohamad, said: “Renewing our AFC Grassroots Charter Bronze membership shows our dedication to promoting the game and giving each player a chance to show their ability. It is not just a certificate; it is a promise to keep working hard and improve our football activities.

“The renewal showcases the good things we can do together in our community and adds energy and enthusiasm to our grassroots efforts. With this renewal, we are saying, ‘We are here, and we are ready to make a difference.’ It is a small step, but it helps us to make big changes.”
