Mainz 05 hand head coach Jan Siewert a contract until 2026!

Jan Siewert remains head coach of Bundesliga club 1.FSV Mainz 05. The 41-year-old football coach has signed a contract until summer 2026. Siewert has been coaching the Mainz 05 players since Bo Svensson left at the beginning of November. Prior to that, the Mayen-born coach had worked at Mainz 05 since the summer of 2020, first as a junior head coach and then as U-23 coach.

Christian Heidel, sporting director of 1.FSV Mainz 05, said: “We have analysed the sporting situation in great detail and in depth and have taken the necessary time to do so. We are convinced that with Jan Siewert we will achieve our sporting goal of staying in the league and that we have made the best decision for Mainz 05. Jan Siewert has given the team positive impetus, he also enjoys great support from the team and the staff, he knows the club and is passionate about this task.”

Jan Siewert said: “I’m very happy about the trust the club has placed in me, which I’ve already felt in recent weeks. We have always been in an open exchange with each other. We have a common task ahead of us for our club. I’m sure that with the quality of the team, our team spirit and standing shoulder to shoulder with our fans and the club, we will be able to cope with this task.”
