U-13 Youth League: Dempo SC blank GDFC-Churchill Brothers, qualify for final round!

Dempo SC scored a comfortable 2-0 victory over GFDC-Churchill Brothers in their final group game to cement top position and qualify for the final phase of the U-13 Youth League.

Dempo coach Remus Gomes started with the same eleven that hammered eight goals against Sporting Clube de Goa in their previous match.

Dempo SC controlled possession right from the start and GFDC-Churchill Brothers found it difficult to keep up with Dempo’s possession football. The Blues had several chances to score but took 35 minutes to open their account when Dwayne Neto’s brilliant through ball from midfield found Shreyash Naik who slid the ball past GFDC-Churchill Brothers keeper Jay Sharma.

Dempo SC went into the lemon break with a solitary goal lead.

Five minutes into the second half Dempo SC had a brilliant chance to double their lead but Shreyash Naik missed the target with just the goalkeeper to beat.

Dwayne Neto and Shreyash Naik combined again for Dempo SC’s second goal in the 55th minute – this time, Shreyash had the simplest of tap in’s after another brilliant run from Neto.

Dempo SC finished the zonal phase of the U-13 Youth League with a perfect record, winning all their eight games scoring a whopping 38 goals and conceding just 2 goals. The final phase is scheduled to be held in Kolkata in April 2018.
