BV. Borussia 09 e.V. Dortmund (BVB) have withdrawn Gerhard Schröder’s honorary membership with immediate effect.
In a conversation this morning BVB president, Dr. Reinhard Rauball, informed the former Federal Chancellor in person about a resolution to that effect passed unanimously by the board.
BV. Borussia 09 e.V. Dortmund had already announced on Monday that the assumption of leading positions in Russian state corporations by an honorary member of BVB is not acceptable against the background of the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the resulting serious violation of international law.
Schröder currently serves as the chairman of the supervisory board of the Russian petroleum company Rosneft.
