CAF General Secretary meets Congo DR President during working visit in Kinshasa!

CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba met the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Felix Tshisekedi during his working visit to the country’s capital, Kinshasa where he delivered a message from CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe.

They discussed the pilot project of the African School Champions Cup that will be played early next year (2022) and also the implementation of the first phase of the roadmap points agreed between CAF, FIFA and Fédération Congolaise de Football-Association (FECOFA).

The CAF General Secretary extended an invitation from CAF President, Dr Motsepe to Felix Tshisekedi to attend the up-coming TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations – Cameroon 2021 opening match at Olembe Stadium, Yaoundé.

President Tshisekedi was briefed on the latest developments on the roadmap discussed and agreed by CAF, FIFA and FECOFA. The roadmap covers a number of subjects relating to Congolese football including legal and regulatory framework, governance, finance, marketing and competitions.

Mosengo-Omba also discussed with President Tshisekedi preparations of the African School Champions Cup pilot project on Schools Football Championship organised by FIFA and CAF. The finals will be played between February and March 2022; date is yet to be finalized.

Veron Mosengo-Omba said, “We thank the Head of State of Congo DR for granting us audience and for his tireless commitment to the Congolese football. I was also pleased to convey warm greetings and the invitation from President Motsepe to President Tshisekedi to attend the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations. The meeting with the President was very positive and he assured us of his support more especially towards next year’s finals of the African School Champions Cup Pilot Project in Schools Football.”
