CONCACAF activate What’s Wrong Is Wrong Campaign!

Leading into the third edition of the CONCACAF Nations League (CNL) Finals, the Confederation for North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football has a range of in-stadium activities planned to make clear to attending fans that discrimination has no place in football, and to reaffirm its message that it firmly opposes the offensive “goalkeeper chant”.

The CNL Finals will take place in AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas in a series of eagerly anticipated matchups, beginning with USA vs Jamaica and Mexico vs Panama Semifinals, followed by the third-place game and Final on Sunday, March 24.

CONCACAF has made all participating federations aware of its commitment to anti-discrimination and provided them with details of the unprecedented levels of in-stadium What’s Wrong Is Wrong activations which will be on-hand in AT&T Stadium, including:

  • What’s Wrong Is Wrong main entrance posters with CONCACAF Fan Code of Conduct messaging.
  • CONCACAF Fan Code of Conduct graphic on the giant-screen with PA read-out.
  • What’s Wrong Is Wrong giant center (on-pitch) pre-game banner.
  • What’s Wrong Is Wrong fan campaign videos played at several intervals during pre-game and at half-time.
  • CONCACAF three-step protocol video played on stadium giant-screen several times pre-game.
  • Field Level What’s Wrong Is Wrong LEDs throughout the match.
  • What’s Wrong Is Wrong photo boards for pre-game team photographs.

The in-stadium activations will be complemented with digital campaign “Fan VAR” campaign videos which promote passionate and respectful support in our game.

CONCACAF’s What’s Wrong Is Wrong campaign was launched in 2021, and the Confederation has consistently utilized the campaign to encourage inclusivity within the game. This has included making clear that CONCACAF firmly opposes the “goalkeeper chant” and encourages fans to leave it in the past.

During the CNL Finals, in the event that any attending fans disregard the positive and inclusive message of our What’s Wrong Is Wrong campaign and engage in discriminatory chanting or language in the stadium, CONCACAF has a range of measures at its disposal.

In the event of individual or small groups of fans engaging in discriminatory chanting, security at each venue shall be responsible for ejecting said fans from the stadium with no refund provided.

In the event that discriminatory chanting is carried out by groups of fans at a scale that is beyond management through fan ejections, FIFA’s three-step procedure for discriminatory behavior in stadiums will be applied with the operational support of the match officials, and if necessary, security operations supervised by managers of the facilities.

CONCACAF firmly encourages to support their teams with passion and to respect the opposition and all participants in the game.
