ISL-3: Atletico de Kolkata score 3-2 comeback win over Mumbai City FC!

Former champions Atletico de Kolkata scored a thrilling 3-2 comeback win over Mumbai City FC in their Indian Super League – Season 3 semifinal first lef at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium in Kolkata on Saturday night.

In an entertaining first half the home side made the perfect start as Lalrindika Ralte put them ahead in the 3rd minute against his former side. But Mumbai City hit back first with Leo Costa equalising in the 10th minute and then Gerson Vieira heading in a Diego Forlan free kick in the 19th minute.

Atletico de Kolkata seemed shocked and needed some time to regroup and in the 29th minute a shot from winger Sameehg Doutie was deflected by Lucian Goian goalwards and Amrinder Singh made a brilliant save, but in the 39th minute a Dika cross was played back by Doutie and Iain Hume banged the ball into the net for the 2-2 equaliser.

ATK now had the momentum on their side with especially left back Sena Ralte put under pressure by Doutie and in the 45th minute Sena Ralte brought down Helder Postiga in the box with the referee pointing to the spot, but Sena Ralte who had committed a number of fouls in the minutes earlier and picking up a yellow card, after the penalty call was lucky not to be send off.

It took some discussions by Mumbai City FC with the referee before the penalty was taken and Iain Hume slotted home coolly to give ATK once more the lead and they would take the 3-2 lead into the break.

In the second half, Iain Hume could or maybe should have completed his hattrick as his first attempt was cleared by Amrinder while he put a second attempt wide.

Mumbai City seemed to have no answer and then lost their talismanic marquee Diego Forlan in the 74th minute for an unnecessary foul on Jewel Raja, which resulted in a second booking and he will miss his the return leg on Tuesday in Mumbai.

Mumbai City now fell back and wanted to take the 2-3 defeat home and it was Hume, who in injury time got his last chance to complete his hattrick, but it stayed 3-2 for Atletico de Kolkata in the end as the Kolkata side take an advantage to Mumbai, where the teams meet again on Tuesday night at the Mumbai Football Arena.
