No India Men’s team in South Asian Games – Football competition!

For unknown reasons the All India Football Federation (AIFF) will not be sending any India men’s national team to the upcoming 2019 South Asian Games in Kathmandu next month.

The men’s football competition is an Under-23 tournament but this edition will miss both India and Pakistan making it a five nation round robin competition in which hosts Nepal would face Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bhutan.

But the women’s competition would see Indian participation with the India Women being the defending champions though it would be a four nation competition with India set to face hosts Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives.

The Men’s tournament will take place at the Dasarath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu whereas the women will compete at the Pokhara Rangasala in Pokhara.
