Soccerex USA 2019 to showcase soccer elite from Europe & the Americas!

Soccerex has announced that the final conference programme for Soccerex USA 2019, Miami, November 21-22 will feature leading executives from some of the biggest soccer organisations across Europe and the Americas.

The event is hosted with the continuing support of North America’s key leagues and governing bodies including CONCACAF, Major League Soccer (MLS), the US Soccer Federation, the Mexican Football Federation and the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). For 2019, United Soccer League (USL) have been added as institutional supporters, with President Jake Edwards leading a strong presence as the league looks to leverage the event to support its continued development.

One of the headline speakers will be CONCACAF’s General Secretary, Philippe Moggio, who will be discussing the success of this summer’s Gold Cup, sharing insights on the Confederation’s inaugural Nations League and looking forward to the competition’s final stages next year.

Also featuring on the first morning will be MLS Commissioner, Don Garber who will be speaking to Fox Sports’ Alexi Lalas about the growth of the league and plans for continued success as they look forward to season 25 in 2020.

MLS’s involvement in the programme extends to participation of MLS franchise leaders such as Darren Eales, President of current MLS Champions, Atlanta United; Rich Orosco, EVP Brand & Community at LAFC; and Tom Braun, VP Business Operations, LA Galaxy.

The building of soccer specific stadia has been key to MLS’s growth and Minnesota United CEO, Chris Wright, will be sharing his insights into the development of their market leading Allianz Field alongside stadia experts from ME Engineers, Populous and Walter P Moore.

Commercial support has also been key to the league’s success and Soccerex USA will include a discussion on how MLS’s partners use soccer to connect with fans, involving senior marketers from Heineken, Seat Geek and Target. They will be joined by CONCACAF’s Chief Commercial Officer, Heidi Pellerano who will provide a wider perspective on sports sponsorship across the region.

The strong brand presence at the event also includes Sony, with Steven Roberts, their Global VP – Competitive Gaming set to speak on the relationship between eSports and soccer, alongside experts from MLS, EA Sports and Twitch.

The US continues to be a significant growth market for European clubs and leagues and Soccerex USA will see the participation of senior figures from Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint Germain, Manchester United, the Premier League, LaLiga and Bundesliga.

David Hopkinson, Head of Global Partnerships will give a presentation outlining Real Madrid’s US strategy and Rudolf Vidal, President of the Americas will lead a panel looking at FC Bayern’s commitment to soccer in North America and what it means for the bigger picture of soccer in the U.S.

The Premier League’s Director of UK and International Public Affairs, Tim Vine will be speaking alongside education solution providers EverFi to showcase how, like major US sports such as NFL, MLB and NHL, they use EverFi’s education solutions as part of their ongoing community and fan engagement work in the US.

Manchester United, Bundesliga and PSG will also be involved discussing how they approach digital fan engagement and how they adapt to changing soccer consumption trends.

From Latin America, Soccerex USA delegates will get to hear from clubs such as River Plate, Pachuca and Penarol who will be discussing how clubs in region can realise their global potential.

The women’s game is also on the agenda with NWSL President Amanda Duffy, joining Yael Averbuch, President of the NWSL Players Association and Karina LeBlanc, Concacaf’s Head of Women’s Football, to look at the growth of women’s soccer and what needs to be done to capitalize on the huge success of this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

In addition, Julian Haigh, NWSL and US Soccer Sport Scientist will be talking, alongside Totum Sport’s John Kelleher, about the importance of physical conditioning, recovery and managing the player transition from league to national team.

Player development is an essential part of any soccer team’s business and, to address the topic, Soccerex USA will bring together a diverse mixture of US and international experts from organisations such as Athletic Bilbao, Charleston Battery, the Dutch FA, Schalke and US Soccer.

Soccer would be nothing without players and the event will close with a special panel, featuring former players such as French Legend Christian Karembeu and Grenada’s Jason Roberts – now Director of Development at Concacaf – looking at how players are increasingly embracing their power to influence society and support important social change.

Soccerex USA will take place at the luxurious JW Marriott Miami Turnberry resort and in addition to the conference, will feature a market leading exhibition and a programme of structured and informal social events.
