U-18 Youth League: Chennaiyin FC U18s beat Raman Vijayan Soccer School!

Chennaiyin FC’s Under-18 boys side defeated Raman Vijayan Soccer School (RVSS) 2-0 in an Under-18 Youth League fixture at the MVM School Ground here today.

After a cagey beginning to the match, Chennaiyin FC took the lead courtesy B. Rohmingthanga, who got on the end of a defence-splitting through ball from Zonunmawia, slotting it between the keeper’s legs.

Chances were few and far between following the goal, with Chennaiyin FC keeper Samik Mitra thwarting any half-chances RVSS had. Centre-back Joseph Lalsanglura almost made it 2-0 five minutes before half-time, as his attempt from a free-kick went agonizingly wide, with the keeper off his lines. Sathish Kumar too went close for the visitors with a shot from distance.

Ten minutes into the second-half, it was 2-0 to the boys in blue, courtesy a solo goal by Syed Suhail Pasha. The striker capping a mazy run on the left flank with a chipped finish. RVSS tried hard to find a way back into the game but the Chennaiyin FC custodian Samik Mitra was equal to it with some astute goalkeeping.

The match ended 2-0 to the Chennaiyin FC U-18s, who made it two wins in a row. They will be looking to do the double over Chennai City FC on January 8, having beaten them 5-0 in the opening round.
