Chandigarh Youth League kicks off in Style!

The Minerva Punjab FC organised “Chandigarh Youth League” kicked off at the Minerva Academy Ground in Mohali with a huge turnout of participants and parents.

The Chandigarh Youth League (CYL) is aimed at young boys and girls in the tri-city area to take up football, outside the school curriculum with a fun-filled and interactive league and football festival. The Chandigarh Youth League is an annual affair and its aim is to get more and more kids to participate in football and enjoy it at the same time. This is one of the many initiatives by Minerva Punjab towards grassroots football development.

The league is conducted in various age group categories; Under-6, U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 and will feature an open to all category as well. This year, CYL will adopt the 7-A-Side format for 12 years and above age groups whereas smaller age groups will play fun and interactive 5v5 games. Each team will be coached and mentored by AFC licensed coaches of Minerva Punjab FC.

The league kicked off at the Minerva academy ground with an exhibition match between Minerva Academy campers and Minerva Public School. The match was witnessed by a crowd of more than 800 which comprised of the participants and parents as well. The match ended with a score of 1-0 in favour of Minerva Academy campers with Tailyang Kago scoring the sole goal.

The league matches will start with Under-8 and Under-10 matches to be played on Monday, May 27. The league will be held at two separate venues, Minerva Academy Ground and Strike Football Ground and will continue till June 9.
