Do Dong scores East Bengal winner over Mohammedan Sporting to lift record seventh CFL title in a row!

east-bengal-mohammedan-sportingEast Bengal Club scored a lone goal win through a Do Dong Hyun penalty against Mohammedan Sporting Club in their eighth Calcutta Football League’s Premier Division – A match at the Kalyani Municipal Stadium in Kolkata this afternoon to once more lift the CFL title.

Defending champions East Bengal moved to 24 points from eight matches, while Mohammedan Sporting Club remain on 17 points from nine matches.

The match did not rise to any great heights in the first session which ended goalless, but after the break in the 72nd minute South Korean Do Dong Hyun netted the only goal of the match to give the red and gold the three points.

Later in the day, Mohun Bagan suffered a surprise 0-1 loss to Tollygunge Agragami to end their title challenge and give the title to East Bengal ahead of their final games.

East Bengal today won their seventh successive Calcutta Football League title to beat their record from the 1970s, when they had won sixth straight titles from 1970 to 1975.
