1.FC Köln sign keeper Philipp Pentke!

1.FC Köln have signed Philipp Pentke as number two behind Marvin Schwäbe. The 38-year-old goalkeeper signed a one-year deal.

1.FC Köln Managing Director Christian Keller said, “In the last three weeks of training, Philipp has shown that he fits and fulfils our profile. He has proven his qualities as a number one and as a reliable number two in the Bundesliga throughout his career. He has highlighted, once more, with his strong performances in training, that he is still at the required level at 38. We are getting a really good guy with a lot of experience, who fits into our team on a personal level and integrated himself well from the very start.”

Philipp Pentke said, “I am really happy to have signed for a club so big as 1. FC Köln and to be part of the FC family in the coming season. I want to help out as best I can and ensure that the team has a successful season.”

Philipp Pentke was born on May 1, 1985 in Freiberg. He made his way from SC Freiberg to Dynamo Dresden (1998-2002) and 1860 Munich (2003-07), where the goalkeeper made his first steps in professional footballer and was a part of the first-team squad from 2005 on. After spending time with FC Augsburg (2007-08) and Energie Cottbus (2008-09), he joined Chemnitzer FC, where he helped them to earn promotion to 3.Liga in 2011. Four years later, Pentke made the move to SSV Jahn Regensburg, where he was again a key figure in back-to-back promotions from Regionalliga to Bundesliga 2. He made 138 appearances for Jahn, including 58 games in the second tier. Since 2019, he has been with TSG Hoffenheim, making eight Bundesliga appearances, featuring in three DFB-Pokal fixtures and once in the UEFA Europa League.
