2018 FIFA World Cup – Group H: Colombia overcome Senegal to stay in tournament!

The 2018 FIFA World Cup continued on Thursday, June 28 afternoon with Colombia overcoming Senegal 1-0 to qualify for the knockout stage at the Samara Arena.

Colombia had the first chance before VAR helped them to avoid a penalty after referee Milorad Mazic had pointed to the spot for a foul on Sadio Mane, but VAR proved that the defender Davidson Sanchez touched the ball before bringing down Mane.

Senegal had more of the ball and Colombia lost their playmaker James Rodriguez due to an injury on the half hour mark. Nothing much happened thereafter and it was goalless at the break.

Nothing much happened and then in the 74th minute Colombia went ahead when Yerry Mina headed in a corner by Quintero and suddenly Colombia were top of the group, while Senegal were eliminated.

Senegal now needed a goal but Colombia stood tall in defence to defend their lead and qualify as group winners for the pre-quarterfinals.
