2018 FIFA World Cup – Group H: Japan earn 2-2 draw against Senegal!

The 2018 FIFA World Cup continued on Sunday, June 24 with Japan and Senegal playing out an exciting 2-2 draw at the Yekaterinburg Stadium.

Senegal started off as the stronger of the two sides and went ahead in the 11th minute as a shot was punched out by keeper Kawashima, but only against the knee of Sadio Mane and the ball went in.

Senegal continued to try and score, while Japan needed time to settle down and once they did, they also had their chances, one of them in the 34th minute, a long ball from Hasebe to Nagatomo, who left the ball for Takashi Inui and he curled in a beauty, 1-1. It stayed that way until the break.

The second session started off with both teams showing attacking intent, while Japan got stronger but the best chance by Takashi Inui only hit the crossbar in the 64th minute. But the goal came at the other end as right-back Moussa Wagué scored in the 71st minute.

But Japan weren’t shocked, continued their attacking game and got the equaliser in the 78th minute through substitute Keisuke Honda off Inui. Both teams thereafter played to win but didn’t have any more chances and the good encounter ended in a 2-2 draw.
