2022 FIFA World Cup organisers and fans join together to support climate action!

FIFA World Cup fans arriving in Qatar have joined forces with tournament organisers, including FIFA, to support climate action, pledging to reduce their carbon emissions during and after the tournament.

FIFA, FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 LLC and Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy have committed to reducing and offsetting all carbon emissions related to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Earlier this year, FIFA encouraged fans traveling to Qatar for the tournament to commit to similar goals and play their part in reducing emissions that contribute to climate change.

Thousands of fans signed the initiative. 50 lucky winners were informed on November 23 that they will receive a voucher to be redeemed at the Official FIFA World Cup Store.

This follows the 2014 and 2018 editions of the FIFA World Cup, where FIFA also engaged with ticketholders to raise awareness of climate change and the need for action.

The Earth’s climate is changing due to human activity and football is not immune to these significant changes. We all need to reduce the emissions that enter the atmosphere.
