Three former champions were among the eight teams who advanced, with the draw to be conducted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on December 28.

Inaugural AFC Champions League winners Al Ain, having booked their spot with two matches to spare, defeated Turkmenistan’s Ahal FC 2-1 in their final tie on Tuesday, with the United Arab Emirates’ side topping Group A with 15 points.

Debutants Al Fayha joined Al Ain from Group A, with the Saudi Arabian side’s 4-1 defeat of Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor FC seeing them advancing as one of the three best second-placed teams.

Uzbekistan’s FC Nasaf confirmed themselves as the Group B winners on Monday after a 2-2 draw with Al Sadd SC took them to 11 points.

Two-time AFC Champions League winners Al Ittihad SC were the outright Group C winners, with the 2-1 win over Islamic Republic of Iran’s Sepahan FC on Monday taking their haul to 15 points.
