The cast for the 2023 AFC U-17 Asian Cup in Thailand was finalised on Monday, June 26 with Japan and Uzbekistan advancing from their respective quarterfinals.
Japan defeated Australia 3-1 while Uzbekistan struck late goals to beat Saudi Arabia 2-0.
Thursday’s semifinals will see Japan playing Iran followed by South Korea taking on Uzbekistan.
Iran advanced to the semifinals after a 4-2 penalty shoot-out win over Yemen while South Korea cruised 4-1 past Thailand.
The four teams – all former AFC U-16 Championship winners – also booked their places in the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia.
