2024 CONCACAF U-20 Championship Official draw scheduled for April 11!

CONCACAF has announced that the official draw for the 2024 CONCACAF U-20 Championship will take place on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the CONCACAF Headquarters in Miami, FL.

In this made-for-tv event, the men’s u-20 national teams participating in the tournament’s group stage will be divided into three groups of four. Fans can follow all the action starting at 11:00 am ET on CONCACAF.com and the Confederation’s social media platforms.

The World Cup qualifying competition will take place from July 19 to August 4 in Celaya and Irapuato, Mexico, and will feature the participation of CONCACAF’s 12 best men’s U-20 national teams.

COMPETITION FORMAT

The 2024 CONCACAF U-20 Championship will begin with a group stage, including the six highest-ranked teams according to the CONCACAF Men’s U-20 Rankings and six that qualified from a preliminary stage. The 12 teams are (in alphabetical order): Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, and the United States.

DRAW PROCEDURES

The 12 teams participating in the group stage will be split into four pots based on the CONCACAF Men’s U-20 Rankings. Pots 1 and 2 will include the six teams pre-seeded into the group stage, as follows:

Pot 1 (three highest-ranked teams): United States, Honduras, Mexico
Pot 2 (three lowest-ranked teams): Panama, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic

Pots 2 and 3 will include the six teams that have qualified for the Group Stage via the Qualifiers, as follows:

Pot 3 (three highest-ranked teams): Guatemala, El Salvador, Cuba
Pot 4 (three lowest-ranked teams): Jamaica, Haiti, Canada

Starting with Pot 1, teams will be placed into Groups A, B, and C according to the order they are drawn, with no more than one team from each pot per group.

COMPETITION SCHEDULE

The 2024 CONCACAF U-20 Championship will start with a group stage. After round-robin play, from July 19 – 27, each team will play three games, and the top two finishers in each group and the two best third places will advance to the quarterfinals.

The knockout stage will include eight teams, starting with the quarterfinals on July 30 and 31, then the semifinals on August 2, and the final, where the new regional champion will be crowned, on Sunday, August 4. In addition, the four semifinalists of the tournament will guarantee their participation in the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The competition’s 25 matches will be divided into two venues, Estadio Sergio León Chávez in Irapuato and Estadio Miguel Alemán Valdés in Celaya.
