After the most successful season in the history of the club after finishing fourth in the German Bundesliga and by that reaching a UEFA Champions League qualifiers spot, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim announced the contract extensions of coach Julian Nagelsmann and the director of professional football, Alexander Rosen.
Alexander Rosen signed a contract dated until June 30, 2020, and Julian Nagelsmann even signed a contract for a year long until 2021.
“Julian and Alex have contributed decisively to the great sporting development of TSG Hoffenheim with their competence, patience, farsightedness and tenacity,” praised CEO Dr. Peter Görlich. “Together they have succeeded in shaping the team with the efficient use of limited financial resources, which not only managed to inspire nationally with refreshing and courageous offensive football, but has now also opened the door to Europe for TSG Hoffenheim. The most recent success clearly bears the manuscript of the two,” said Görlich, adding, “We have made a lot of progress far beyond the sport, we are well positioned and can tackle the challenges of self-confidence and determination.”
“I have never concealed the fact that the TSG is more than a normal employer after so many years in different positions at the club,” said Alexander Rosen. “That is why I am all the more pleased that I am able to continue to assume a responsible position in this great team. The trust of the shareholders and the management is a great incentive for me to add more chapters to the success story of the past years,” said Alexander Rosen, who has been with TSG for eight years. In April 2013, the native of Augsburg took over the position of “Director Professional Football”, before he had headed the clubs youth development.
Julian Nagelsmann “also feels great joy and anticipation for the upcoming challenges”. The 29-year-old coach “shows us that we are comfortable here and have the optimal conditions for successful work” which also Alexander Rosen felt and extended his commitment to TSG. “This is a milestone on our way, because it is a strong signal to the club, the team as well as the coaching staff and a sign for continuity and stability.”
The fact that Julian Nagelsmann and Alexander Rosen continue to see their joint future at the TSG is “an award for the work outside the square,” feel owner Dietmar Hopp. “The TSG’s management of Spielbetriebs GmbH continues to develop the TSG together with the employees at all levels and on a growth path. This ongoing process has created an atmosphere that makes success possible and provides ambitious plans,” Dietmar Hopp added.
