In the first session Chennaiyin FC had the better of the exchanges with midfielder Raphael Augusto the creator of a number of opportunities but his side were wasteful with Dudu, Eli Sabia, Davide Succi and Bernard Mendy all could have scored. Towards the end of the first half the Kerala Blasters were getting better but without any real chances. It remained goalles at the break.

In the second half Kervens Belfort could have been the Kerala Blasters hero, but his effort went wide of the goal as the match ended goalless.
