At the end of an Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday, July 28, morning, the French Football Federation (FFF) and its President, Philippe Diallo, are pleased to announce the appointment of Zinedine Zidane as coach of the French men’s team for the next four years, until the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Zinedine Zidane becomes the 18th coach in the history of Les Bleus since Henri Guérin in 1964, and thus takes over from Didier Deschamps. The new coach will officially take up his position on August 1 and will lead the French team from the 2026-2027 UEFA Nations League campaign. He will continue with the Euro 2028 qualifiers, the 2028-2029 UEFA Nations League and the 2030 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Zinedine Zidane will announce the composition of his staff at the beginning of September.
Zinedine Zidane, coach of the French team said, “I’ve often said it: there’s nothing bigger than the French team. It is therefore a joy and obviously a great pride to become the coach of this French team. It is also a responsibility. I would like to thank President Philippe Diallo, the Executive Committee and the French Football Federation for their trust and salute the fourteen years of Didier and his staff. I also have a special thought today for all my educators. Needless to say, I have a lot of ambitions for the French team!”
