Bundesliga: Promoted RB Leipzig now top ahead of FC Bayern & Dortmund!

BundesligaThe German Bundesliga has completed match day 11 and the incredible run of promoted RB Leipzig continued with the team from Saxony winning 3-2 on Friday night at the BayArena away to Bayer 04 Leverkusen and it meant that at least for a night they would be top of the Bundesliga with 27 points from 11 matches.

On Saturday four time defending champions FC Bayern Munich had the chance to go top of the table again, but they had to travel to Dortmund for the German Clasico against Borussia Dortmund and suffered a 0-1 defeat at the Signal Iduna Park which meant that RB Leipzig remained top of the Bundesliga after the end of the match day 11.

What an achievement for a promoted side, who are still to loose a game after 11 rounds of the Bundesliga with a team without any big star and the youngest squad in the league.

Interesting is that for the first time in ages FC Bayern are not top of the Bundesliga which leads to some interesting weeks ahead of the Christmas break in a few weeks.

Its too early to say if RB Leipzig can keep this run going until the end of the season and become the first promoted Bundesliga side since 1.FC Kaiserslautern in 1998 to win the league or be a surprise champion like Leicester City FC was last season in the English Premier League.

But not only is the race for the top spot interesting, but also for the third spot behind RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich as five clubs in Borussia Dortmund, 1.FC Köln, 1899 Hoffenheim, Hertha BSC and EIntracht Frankfurt all are on 21 points with Dortmund expected to be up there but the other four teams just like Leipzig are having a dream season so far.

At the other end of the table is a North German tragedy with Hamburger SV bottom of the league with only three points, southern side FC Ingolstadt are just ahead of them with five points and in the relegation spot is HSV rival Werder Bremen on seven points.

And to conclude it means that currently the Bundesliga is as interesting as it hasn’t been for years with FC Bayern struggling, newcomers RB Leipzig top and traditional sides like Hamburger SV and Werder Bremen struggling to maintain their place amongst Germany’s elite football clubs.
