AFC Club Licensing Annual Seminar 2022 concludes successfully!

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) organised the AFC Club Licensing Annual Seminar for 2022 with 57 participants from 38 Member Associations (MAs), gathering to discuss and learn about the latest updates.

The two-day seminar commenced on September 23 with opening remarks from the AFC General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John after which, the Competitions and Football Events Division Deputy Director, Avazbek Berdikulov provided a succinct overview of AFC competitions.
The seminar was also joined by guests from FIFA and the Confederation of African Football.

Speaking of the importance of the seminar, Datuk Seri Windsor John said: “Club licensing has created an undeniable impact on the professional standards of Asian club football in the last decade.

“This seminar gives us the opportunity to review our successes and to address the upcoming challenges, but more importantly, to find collective solutions to ensure our continued development.”

The opening day of the seminar delved into a detailed analysis of Club Licensing in Asia where the participants received updates on evaluation of the previous club licensing cycle while also devising plans for the upcoming one.

Owing to the recent change in the AFC Club Competitions calendar from its current Spring-Autumn season to an Autumn-Spring calendar, the session extensively discussed ways to minimise disruptions in the goings-on in professional football on the Continent while also laying out the path for the future before breaking into an engaging Q&A session with the participants from various MAs.

The second half of the day closely examined matters such as the effects that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the finances of Asian clubs.

The Jordan Football Association then ended proceedings by sharing their in-depth case study of Club Licensing in their MA.

The following day primarily focused on topics such as the AFC development programmes and practical guidelines that can assist in stadium inspections.

Later in the day, the participants received updates regarding the AFC Club Licensing Administrative System (CLAS), which helps clubs comply with the AFC club licensing protocols, as well as the AFC Club Licensing Regulations that set out the minimum requirements to be met to enter AFC Club Competitions.

The forum concluded after the attendees took part in an interactive session to share their feedback.
