AFC development programmes simplified!

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Development Committee decided at its meeting today to simplify the structure of its development programmes for the Member Associations from next year.
The existing programmes will be consolidated into two broader programmes which will help the AFC to support the MAs in their strategic plans in a more efficient way.

The new development programme structure, effective from 2018, will be better aligned with the Member Associations’ development strategies.

The programme will be coordinated between the different departments in the AFC administration which will further enhance tailor-made support.

These existing projects will be incorporated into two broader President’s Initiatives: the AFC President’s Infrastructure Initiative and the AFC President’s Development Initiative.

The Infrastructure Initiative will have two components: mini-pitches and other infrastructure projects, replacing the Mini-Pitch Scheme and the Infrastructure Fund.

The AFC President’s Development Initiative will replace the League Development Programme, Expert Pool, Competition Fund, Live Streaming Platform and Competition Management System.
The AFC will identify the main areas of each MA’s strategic plan on which the project will focus.

In addition, the Development Initiative programme will include Core Development Goals which will address key areas such as financial management, legal issues, human resource management, media and communications and commercial matters.

The streamlined development structure will make it easier for the AFC’s Member Associations to derive benefit from assistance available to them. However, the current level of funding available to the MAs does not change.

The AFC Development Committee also decided to award a certificate of achievement to the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) and the United Arab Emirates Football Association (UAEFA) for their work in the field of football development in 2017.

The PFF was awarded the recognition for the creation of their new national league and the intensive work carried out on league governance in the country.

The project recognised by the Committee in the UAE provided targeted media training for professional players.
