AFC Elite Youth Scheme recognise first football girls’ academies!

The AFC Elite Youth Scheme has endorsed the first-ever football girls’ academies in the Japan Football Association (JFA) and Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) as the gold standard three-star and one-star elite academies respectively.

The BFF also joins the AFC Elite Youth Scheme as a full member for their focus on providing a clear pathway to develop players and coaches through their elite academy while expanding their women’s competitions.

Meanwhile, the JFA Fukushima Girl’s Academy will be the second JFA academy recognised in the Elite Youth Scheme after the JFA Fukushima Academy received a two-star endorsement in 2019.

The JFA Fukushima Girl’s Academy is focused on nurturing the potential of students by providing good coaching for the lower and secondary school students. There are currently two age group teams in the academy, the U-15 and U-18, that are currently playing in the second division of the Nadeshiko League.

The AFC Elite Youth Scheme has also approved the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and The Hong Kong Football Association LTD (HKFA) applications for the JDT FC Academy as an elite-two star academy and Lee Man FC Academy as a one-star academy.

With advanced infrastructure and well-maintained training facilities, the Johor DT FC Academy puts a strong emphasis on youth development by utilising their expertise to groom future stars of the game.

Meanwhile, the Lee Man FC Academy has put in place a structured talent identification procedure that includes monitoring potential players’ data. Promising academy players are also given the opportunity to train and play with the first team.
