AFC Grassroots Charter: Samples of Good Practice 2022 now available!

The 2022 edition of the AFC Grassroots Charter: Samples of Good Practice seeks to inspire and guide Member Associations (MAs) to drive the growth of Asian grassroots football, strengthen the fundamentals of the game and encourage more people to develop a passion for the sport.

The publication is a compilation of programmes, case studies, campaigns and everything else grassroots-related divided into categories that include Leadership, Structure, Player Programmes, Personal Development, Fair Play, and Promotional Activities. These activities include “Respect the Game” and Female Football Week campaigns, a camp for blind football players, coaching clinics, volunteer programmes and child safeguarding policy sessions.

Each page is designed to showcase the effort, time and resources MAs have invested in ensuring football continues to be accessible to all, stimulate greater interest, provide more social inclusion opportunities and support the mental and physical development of young people.

The activities also reflect the commitment of the AFC MAs in promoting grassroots football despite the challenges brought about by COVID-19 as well as societal and economical obstacles. Their creativity to safeguard initiatives while emphasising fun and learning is to be emulated by MAs looking to raise their grassroots programmes to another level.

The easy-to-read format allows MAs to use the publication as a guidebook and a source of inspiration in numerous ways, for example, to apply for the AFC Grassroots Charter, upgrade Charter status, enhance current programmes or simply to benchmark present activities against some of the Continent’s most outstanding.

Samples of Good Practice also enables MAs to conceptualise and deliver best-in-class initiatives. It additionally provides means to increase the quality of the game and inculcate admirable qualities such as fair play, sportsmanship and teamwork in line with the AFC’s overall objectives to enhance grassroots football.

As you browse the publication available here, do take some time to enjoy the smiles on the faces of the excited boys and girls within, some of whom have been provided the opportunity to play football for the very first time.
