AFC President Recognition Award set to reward distinguished AFC Grassroots Charter members!

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Executive Committee has ratified the AFC Technical Committee’s approval to change the categories of the AFC President Recognition Awards for Grassroots Football to acknowledge standout Member Associations (MAs) in the AFC Grassroots Charter.

Mirroring the AFC Grassroots Charter membership categories of Gold, Silver and Bronze, the AFC President Recognition Awards aims to provide an additional incentive for MAs to be recognised for their grassroots initiatives.

The latest enhancements further emphasise the importance of the AFC Grassroots Charter, which has spearheaded the rapid grassroots movement on the Continent while providing a blueprint for MAs to continue developing the sport at the grassroots level.

Nominees for the AFC President Recognition Awards for Grassroots Football will be judged based on the increase in number of participants in MA activities, a rise in investment, development in special projects, new partnerships and the addition of social responsibility in grassroots programmes.

Other criteria that will be taken into consideration include the number of participants in grassroots competitions, MAs commitment to the AFC Grassroots Charter, collaboration with top clubs, efforts to improve grassroots facilities and equipment, and the use of grassroots ambassadors.

The AFC Grassroots Charter was launched in 2017 as a development tool that aims to raise the quality of grassroots programmes in Asia. It identifies 20 performance categories including competitions, fairplay, partnerships and personal development.

A total of 39 MAs are currently in the Charter with four at the Gold level, 10 Silver members and 25 in the Bronze category.
