AFC’s Shaikh Salman outlines support to FA of Brunei Darussalam!

Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa praised the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) for their efforts in developing the game in the country during an insightful dialogue with FABD President Pengiran Haji Matusin bin Pengiran Haji Matasan today in the Malaysian capital.

Shaikh Salman noted the active involvement of Brunei Darussalam’s youth teams in the AFC’s age-group qualifying tournaments, adding that continuous participation was pivotal to long-term development.

The AFC President also praised the FABD for its efforts in raising the technical standards of the game after it was awarded the AFC Grassroots Charter Bronze Membership for its commitment to promote a lifelong passion for football in the country.

At the same time, the FABD has also been actively doing its part in achieving the AFC’s Social Responsibility objective of providing a safe and secure environment for children and young people.

More recently, the FABD organised the first-of-its-kind Child Safeguarding Introductory course for aspiring female coaches in conjunction with the AFC Women’s Football Day.

Shaikh Salman also assured President Pengiran Haji Matusin of the AFC’s full support in their efforts to develop the game in the country, noting the presence and impact of the Confederation’s technical, refereeing and development programmes.

President Pengiran Haji Matusin, who was accompanied by FABD General Secretary Mohammad Shahnon bin Haji Mohammad Salleh, conveyed his gratitude to the AFC President on the solidarity and commitment to further strengthen the Asian football family with the newly consolidated AFC Enhance Programme Regulations.

He also outlined his intentions to work closely with the AFC to strengthen the development of football in Brunei Darussalam while also exploring the ways in which to enhance the performance of the national team.
