AIFF Elite Academy U-19 split points with Bethlehem Vengthlang FC!

The AIFF Elite Academy U-19 boys finish with another 1-1 draw in the ongoing Independence Day Cup 2017 today, August 4 as Lalawampuia’s goal snatched a crucial point from the home team’s grasp. Meanwhile, it was AIFF U-19 boys third draw in as many games in the tournament.

Having played a barren first-half, both teams changed their gear in the second half to get the opening goal. Bethlehem Vanthlang FC, having enjoyed the home support behind them, went ahead within two minutes of the second half through Vanlalthanga and started pressing hard.

Theirs rejoice cut short when Lalawampuia, the goalscorer from the last game, netted his second of the tournament eight minutes later.

Coach Floyd Pinto opted to bring in two fresh pairs of legs later to garner the first win of the tournament. Zonunmawia replaced Shajai and Tlunga was also brought in at the expense of Suraj. But eventually, it came of little use in the favour of the AIFF boys.

Until the final whistle, both teams were able to hold to leave the pitch with one point apiece.

AIFF Elite Academy U-19 boys will play Dinthar FC in their final match of the tournament on Monday, August 7.
