The All India Football Federation (AIFF) executive committee is set to meet next week to discuss and finalise the formal dismissal of former federation secretary general Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran.
But there is confusion about the date as different media reports state that either Tuesday, January 30 or Wednesday, January 31 the AIFF ExCo are to meet.
The AIFF removed Prabhakaran as secretary general on November 7, 2023 for what they termed as ‘breach of trust’ but a single bench of the Delhi High Court had on December 8 ordered an interim stay on his sacking.
In its latest order of January 19, the High Court pointed out that Prabhakaran was dismissed by the emergency committee of the AIFF whereas the federation’s constitution provides that only the executive committee has the power to do that.
The AIFF ExCo is now meeting to rectify this procedural mistake.
Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran has not been invited for the AIFF ExCo despite wanting to present his side of the story.
