AIFF’s Kalyan Chaubey: India should consider hosting matches of FIFA World Cup 2034!

The FIFA World Cup 2034 is set to be organised by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the All India Football Federation president Kalyan Chaubey has come up with an idea of India hosting some of the tournaments matches in India.

According to sources, AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey at the AIFF Executive Committee meeting held on November 9, 2023 had made the suggestion, “The president informed the house that India should think or plan to work towards being a co-host for the World Cup in 2034.”

The FIFA World Cup 2034 would be a 48 national team competition with 104 matches to be played across the competition.

If we take this suggestion seriously, then India could potentially consider to host a group or maybe two which could mean six or 12 matches in India featuring eight nations.

But at this stage it is unknown if this suggestion by the AIFF president made at the AIFF ExCo has been discussed with FIFA and Saudi Arabia or if they would consider such a request by India.
