Aizawl FC lead Mizoram Premier League after Kolasib!

Defending champions Aizawl FC climbed to the top of the league in style in round 6 which was played in Kolasib. The champions faced FC Venghnuai on Friday at Kolasib District Sports Stadium in the first fixture of round 6.

First half goals from in-form duo Rochharzela and Alfred Jaryan was further complimented by F. Lalremsanga in the second half to ensure it was a clear three points against a spirited but clearly overwhelmed newly promoted Venghnuai FC side.

The second match of the day was a more even battle as Chanmari FC came out on top against Chawnpui FC thanks to a 23 minute second half blitz from the two time champions.

A goalless first half was followed by a second period where Chanmari FC found themselves three goals up thanks to strikes from Lalremruata, M.S. Dawngliana and Lalnunzama in the 72nd minute. But a Lalnunmawia double in four minutes soon followed to ensure the match went to the wire till the final whistle.

The third match of round 6 saw Electric Veng FC complete a convincing victory over Ramhlun North FC on Saturday morning. An early penalty from David Lalchhuanawma was followed up by Ramhlunchhunga’s double in the second half and Vanlalnunpuia added further misery for his side when he gifted an own goal for Electric Veng FC’s fourth.

The final game saw a battle at the top of the table between Mizoram Police FC and Chhinga Veng FC. As expected, an even match up in the first half saw the former champions come out on top in the first period through goals from Malsawmdawnga and Ivorian forward Quattar Sie.

A shored up Mizoram Police side improved in the second half and grabbed on back via an own goal from K.C. Larchhuakmawia. The Police team tried to find an equaliser but Chhinga Veng FC were able to hold firm till the end for a crucial three points.
