Alphonso Davies extends his Bayern Munich contract until 2025!

FC Bayern Munich and Alphonso Davies have agreed terms extending the player’s stay at the club ahead of schedule. Both sides agreed to extend the player’s contract, which originally ran until 2023, for a further two years until June 30, 2025. 19-year-old Davies joined the German record champions from the Vancouver Whitecaps in autumn 2018.

FC Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said, “Alphonso has developed very well at FC Bayern and has earned this contract extension with his impressive performances. We are happy that he will remain with FC Bayern in the long term. He delights our fans not only with the way he plays, but also with the way he is off the pitch.”

Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic, “I am very pleased that FC Bayern and Alphonso have made a long-term commitment to each other. With his speed, his enthusiasm and his professional attitude, Alphonso is an ideal fit for our team. He is also a real asset in human terms. It is up to all of us here to ensure that Alphonso continues to stabilise his very good performance, that he takes the next steps in his development with the same concentration and courage as he has up till now.“

Executive Board member Oliver Kahn, “Alphonso Davies is a player who has already achieved a high level of performance at a young age and at the same time still has great potential for development. Anyone who can consistently play at the top level at FC Bayern at such a young age can have a great career ahead of them. We are all happy to have him with us in the long term. He brings an incredible amount to the table and we are sure that we will still have a lot of joy with him.”

Alphonso Davies added, “I am very happy. FC Bayern is one of the best clubs in the world, and for me it’s a dream come true to play here. I felt happy from day one. I want to win as many titles as possible with this club. The mentality of always wanting to win everything is in FC Bayern’s DNA.“

Alphonso Davies was signed by FC Bayern in the summer of 2018. After the Vancouver Whitecaps’ season ended early, he began training with the first team in Munich in November. While he had caused a furore in the MLS as a fast and versatile winger, he went on to establish himself at left back for FC Bayern.

He has made 31 competitive appearances this season, running up a tally of one goal and eight assists. Last season, he celebrated winning the domestic double of the Bundesliga and DFB Cup with FC Bayern and was also part of the Bayern reserves squad that was promoted to the third division. He made his debut for Canada at the age of 16 and has scored five goals in 17 appearances.
