Ambernath United Atlanta FC look to qualify for Second Division League final round!

Ambernath United Atlanta FC made their debut in the Second Division League just a month back as they looked to continue their upward trend in Mumbai and Maharashtra football. Having won back to back Elite Premier League titles and add to that the Harwood Champions League last year and the Nadkarni Cup just a few days back, they would now want to continue this upward trajectory in the final two away games in the group stage of Second Division League.

A breathtaking 3-1 win over Dempo SC rounded off their home season in Group D as they came back from 0-1 down to seal all three points. Having lost 1-2 away to Dempo SC after leading 1-0, this home win was much needed as they looked to progress through to the next round. After going down 0-1 at the break, second half goals from Shravan Shetty, Himanshu Patil and Arif Shaikh turned the game on its head and gave Ambernath United Atlanta FC a 3-1 win.

Let’s have a look at both home and away form of Ambernath United Atlanta FC this season so far

Home Form: 10/12 Points won at home

  • 2-1 win vs Hyderabad FC Reserves
  • 1-1 draw vs ARA FC
  • 2-0 win vs FC Goa Reserves
  • 3-1 win vs Dempo SC

Away Form: 1/6 points won away from home so far

  • 3-3 draw vs FC Goa Reserves
  • 2-1 loss vs Dempo SC

As seen above the Goa trip yielded only one point out of the possible six points, a thrilling 3-3 draw against FC Goa Reserves and a 1-2 loss against Dempo SC after leading 1-0. Ambernath United Atlanta FC will look to change this form and grab maximum points from their next two away matches as they make their trip South to face Hyderabad FC Reserves first on April 20 at the Bangalore Football Stadium. Kickoff at 4pm.

In the reverse fixture, Ambernath United Atlanta FC made a comeback from a goal down to win 2-1 against Hyderabad FC Reserves. They will look to do a double over the ISL side as they look to strengthen their position in Group D.

As head coach Steven Dias puts it, the team has been in solid form with their back-to-back home wins. Arif Shaikh and Himanshu Patil have scored three goals each and have complemented each other well. Ashley Koli has two goals to his name and there have been goals from Johnson Matthews, Nishant Shetty, Shravan Shetty and Abhijit Tawhare.

ARA FC’s 1-0 win away from home took them three points clear at the top of Group D, with 14 points from six matches. Ambernath United Atlanta FC have 11 points from their six matches played. Meanwhile Dempo SC also has 11 points but have played seven matches. Keeping all the above in mind, ARA FC vs Ambernath United Atlanta FC will be a cracking contest as the stakes will be high. But before Ambernath United Atlanta FC get there they will first have to have a positive result come Thursday against Hyderabad FC Reserves.

Can Ambernath United Atlanta FC complete the double over Hyderabad FC Reserves? Or will Hyderabad FC Reserves get one over them?
