Applications open for FIFA Women’s Coach Mentorship programme!

Coinciding with the one-year anniversary since the launch of the FIFA Women’s Development Programme, FIFA has announced on Friday, September 3 that applications are now open for the 2021/22 edition of Coach Mentorship.

As one of the eight programmes available under the FIFA Women’s Development Programme, Coach Mentorship aims to develop and empower a new generation of talented female coaches by identifying a group of emerging female coaching talent who will be individually mentored by a top coach from the women’s game over the next 18 months.

As well as providing talented coaches in the women’s game with a mentor over the next 18 months, the programme also aims to help female coaches to achieve greater results in their current positions, offer coaching guidance and support on career development as well as encourage more highly qualified coaches to work in the women’s game.

Sarai Bareman, FIFA’s Chief Women’s Football Officer, said: “Developing and identifying new pathways for female coaches is a key part of FIFA’s ongoing work and commitment to accelerate the development of women’s football over the next few years. Following the success of the first edition, we are delighted that Coach Mentorship has now opened its application process for 2021/2022. We look forward to welcoming a new class of mentors and mentees over the coming months and helping to develop a new generation of talented coaches in the women’s game.”

Building on the success of the first edition, which launched in 2018 and has seen several participants go on to secure top coaching roles since then, Coach Mentorship is part of FIFA’s vision to accelerate the development of women’s football over the next few years.
