AS Monaco & Niko Kovac announce parting ways!

French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco have announced on Saturday, January 1 evening that the club has taken the decision to part ways with Niko Kovac. The Croatian head coach was informed on Thursday during a preliminary meeting.

Last season, AS Monaco under Niko Kovac had finished third in the Ligue 1 and reached the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, but they were eliminated by Shakhtar Donetsk and have had to play in the UEFA Europa League, where the team topped their group and have qualified for the knockout stage. But in the French Ligue 1, AS Monaco were only sixth and the club management were said of not being happy with their head coach and it in the end resulted in him getting fired.

Niko Kovac arrived in the Principality in July 2020 and led the AS Monaco team 74 times. AS Monaco will announce the name of its new head coach very soon. Until then, Stéphane Nado, coach of the N2, will train the professional group.
