It was a crucial night for Jamshedpur FC as their hopes to qualify for the playoffs were pinned on this match. They had to win this game to maintain pressure on teams battling it out for the ISL playoffs. ATK FC on the other hand had to win this game to go back to the top of the table.
ATK had a dream start and took a lead in the 2nd minute. Sandip Mandi got the ball on the left and played a back pass to Memo but Roy Krishna intersected that pass and then slot it home calmly. ATK were totally in control of the game as they had another effort saved by Subrata Paul right in the middle of goal at the 13th minute. They came close to scoring a second goal when Javier Hernandez whipped in a dangerous cross inside the box and Pritam Kotal got a free header but hit it just wide of the right corner.
Subrata Paul was called into action once more as Edu Garcia tried to chip it over him but Subrata made himself big sliding in and made a crucial save. ATK were at it again as Krishna laid it for Edu Garcia who took a shot and was blocked by Joyner Lourenco with his chest. ATK held onto their lead going into the half-time break.
The second half started with a substitution with Aniket Jadhav coming in for Amarjit Singh. Jitendra Singh got his second yellow of the game as he put in a sliding tackle and caught Jayesh Rane and Jamshedpur FC were reduced to 10 men at the 52nd minute. ATK doubled their lead as Edu Garcia won the ball on the right flank and charged with it and then passed it to Roy Krishna who laid it back to Edu Garcia who slotted it home.
ATK scored their third goal of the night in the 75th minute. It was Roy Krishna again who scored his second of the night. Edu Garcia put in a quality through ball in the path of Roy Krishna and he calmly put it in the back of the net. Jamshedpur FC made two more substitutions on the night bringing in David Grande and Karan Amin in place of Sandip Mandi and Noe Acosta. ATK saw the rest of the half out as they scored a 3-0 win over Jamshedpur FC.
