Former Indian Super League champions ATK have announced the signing of the brothers Michael Soosairaj and Michael Regin besides Irish defender Carl McHugh.
24 year old Michael Soosairaj joins ATK from rivals Jamshedpur FC on a five year contract. After only a season with the Steelmen, Soosairaj moves on.
Earlier in his career Soosairaj played for local Chennai side St. Catherine FC before moving on to Arrows FC before joining Chennai City FC.
31 year old Michael Regin is the elder brother of Soosairaj, who has had two successful seasons with Chennai City FC, which culminated in winning the 2018/19 I-League title.
ATK head coach Antonio Lopez Habas said, “Michael Soosairaj and Michael Regin are experienced players who have been playing competitive football in India. Their understanding of the game, their attacking style will add value to ATK.”
26 year old Lettermacaward-born Carl Gerard McHugh played football locally in Ireland before signing for the FC Reading Academy. He had loan spells with semi-pro sides Swindown Supermarine and Dundalk FC before signing for Bradford City AFC and Plymouth Argyle in the English Football League.
He joined Scottish Premiership side Motherwell FC in 2016 and had three successful seasons with them, even being their captain in the 2017/18 season.
Now Carl McHugh has left the British Isles to sign a two year contract with ATK in India.
“Carl McHugh is a very versatile and exciting player. His talent and his leadership skills will impact the team in a very positive way. I welcome him to the ATK family,” said Antonio Lopez Habas.
