Atletico Madrid captain Koke extends his contract!

Jorge Resurrección, better known as Koke, will continue to play for Atlético de Madrid next season. The club captain, whose contract expires on June 30, has reached an agreement with the club that provides for an annual renewal at the end of each season.

January 8, 1992 is a date marked in the Red & White calendar. On that day, a boy from Vallecas was born, who arrived at Atlético de Madrid at the age of six and who, since then, has gone from strength to strength to become an undisputed legend of the club. Today, at the age of 32, Jorge Resurrección Merodio is the player who has worn the Atleti shirt the most times in official matches. A total of 626 times.

Long gone is that September 19, 2009 when Jorge Resurrección pulled on the Atleti jersey for the first time with the first team. With the No. 26 on his back, on that day they began to know the all-rounder player who for so many years has defended and will defend the badge. The match against FC Sevilla will remain etched in a special way in the memory of the captain because against FC Sevilla he managed to score his first goal.

His history is not only limited to a number that very few footballers reach, and even more so in the same club, he is also one of the most successful players. He has won eight titles in the fifteen years that he has defended the colours of the shirt: two leagues, one Copa del Rey, two UEFA Europa Leagues, two European Super Cups and one Spanish Super Cup. Eight titles that make him the second player with the most titles in the history of the club, only surpassed by Adelardo who has ten trophies as an Atleti player.

The captain perfectly represents everything an Atleti boy wants to be when he grows up. Koke is fight, effort, sacrifice, solidarity… Koke is courage and heart.
