Bayer 04 Leverkusen have signed the Colombia U-20 international Gustavo Puerta. The 19-year-old central midfielder joins Leverkusen from the capital club Bogota FC and he will initially go out on loan to second division 1.FC Nürnberg.
The technically gifted Puerta, who is currently playing for his country’s U-20 team in the South American championships, has agreed a deal at Bayer 04 Leverkusen to June 30, 2028.
“Gustavo Puerta is a very powerful player who has great potential as a number six or an eight,” said sporting managing director Simon Rolfes in describing the captain of the Colombia U20 team. “We’ve had a good relationship with FC Nürnberg for a long time and we have been able to reach an agreement beneficial to all sides in this case. ‘Der Club’ are getting a strong player capable of developing and Gustavo will be able to settle in at a very high level and gain the necessary match practice here in Germany.
